Hythe & Dibden Sun XI vs BELT

Played @ Jones Lane

12th July

On a warm Sunday afternoon Hythe welcomed back the English Language Teachers from Bournemouth who beat them by 5 wkts in the corresponding fixture.

With Dan Taylor taking charge ~ Hythe took to the field and watched openers Hardwicke 50 & Clark 60 put the visitors in a strong position. But the Nelms brothers fell cheaply before Longley 28* & the impressive Saxby 42* took the score to 197-5.

Hythe's reply started poorly when leading Sunday marksman Jonjo Stovell threw away his wicket for 4. But Ryan O'Connor & Ben Jones added 97 for the 2nd wicket Ben Jones going onto make his maiden club fifty.

Dan Duell & Ryan O'Connor 39 then fell shortly afterwards to set up an exciting finish.

Tom Jones 12 & Dan Taylor added 39 for the 5th wicket and when Taylor finally went for 37 Hythe still required 36 off 6 overs. Noah Vaughan was dropped first ball which proved costly as he and Ben Holbrook 6* saw Hythe home with 3 overs spare. Vaughan hitting 31* .

A great game of cricket and we thank the BELT for coming up from Bournemouth for the Sunday fixture.
