Last Ball Defeat For Sunday XI

Sunday cricket is still very much alive and kicking as last weeks game against Hospital Services produced a thriller @ Jones Lane.

Hythe looked dead and buried with the doctors 101-3 chasing 147 yet the introduction of Sam Redford & Dan Jones to the attack plus one of the finest catches seen for years at Hythe from Dan Duell meant Hospital Services required 1 off the last ball to win.

Earlier Hythe had batted first and struggled to 146 all out. Dan Duell made 32 and Pete Miller 23. Several batsman got started but gave their wickets away. Wheble, Sean Baker & Wiji all chipped in with 2 wickets.

Hospital Services openers started well putting on 25 before Kev McCarthy bowled Sivakumar for 15. Davis and Banford added 36 before Noah Vaughan struck with two wickets in quick succession.

At 101-3 the result seemed a formality but Dan Jones had Puri caught by brother Ben for 19, then had Murray caught by Redford for 0.

Richardson & Wiji put on 32 for the 6th wicket taking the score to 140 when Dan Duell diving to his left caught a superb one hander to dismiss Wije for 39.

Redford set up the tight finish with 3-9 but the docs scrambled over the line with a single of the last ball.. Great Game
