Hythe & Westbourne Serve Up a Cracker

Final home game of the season and Hythe & Dibden welcomed West Sussex side Westbourne to Jones Lane for the very first time.

Hythe have been visiting Westbourne for the past 10 seasons but and come off worse 8 of them so a home game was the perfect opportunity to finish the season on a high.

Westbourne batted first ~ Legg & Rigby adding 55 for the 1st wicket. Dan Taylor dismissed both and the Westbourne innings was then built around G.Weller who was last man out for 53. Ed Smith getting his first ever senior wicket.

Weller enjoyed a 3rd wicket stand of 47 with Warren Turner 27 but Hythe puilled the game back bowling the Westies out for 158. Steve Rollinson taking 3-18.

Hythe then batted and Hythe struggled from the start as Westies australian/greek D.Kehagais enjoyed bowling up the hill. Rollinson went for 0, OConnor 10, Meredith 12, Ed Smith 0 as Hythe slumped to 28-4.

Traiq & Ben Jones then put on 92 for the 5th wicket to put Hythe in the driving seat. Tariq unfortunately judged LBW for the 2nd day running for 72.

Hythe 120-5 needing 39. But then the rot set in as Kehagais came back into the attack to take 6-22.

Dan Taylor made 16 but then Dan Duell scored a duck and Ben Holbrook run out for 0 leaving the last pair to score 20. Dan Jones looked competent enough to do it but he was left stranded 16* as Kev McCarthy was given out LBW. Westbourne had won by 3 runs. Great game
