Hythe In Shocker Against Lyndhurst

H&D Sun XI hosted Lyndhurst & Ashurst for their annual fixture @ Jones Lane.

Smarting from the Burley performance the previous week Hythe skipper Dan Taylor elected to bat first on a 200+ wicket. Sadly though Hythe were well short of the mark after Jamie Meredith 85 enjoyed himself against the old rivals.

Pete Miller made 25 but that was it the rest failed to get into double figures as Dave Agha 4-29, Alex Hodder 2-37 & Matt Birch 2-6 caused them into silly mistakes. Hythe 152 all out.

The Hythe bowlers then came up against a quality batsman in Johnny Spence and very talented youngster Ben Mayes. The pair put on 134 for the first wicket before Spence was caught D.Duell bowled Dan Taylor for 79. Mayes went onto score an excellent 60 and though Pete Miller chipped in with 2 wickets Hythe were beaten by 7 wickets with 15 overs spare.

A shocker which resulted in H&D Critic Pierre Knights asking why our batsman dont want to play themselves in for a long innings.
