Dan Misses Out On First Ton vs Phoenix

H&D Sun XI recorded a comfortable win in their annual match with Phoenix which dates back to the Seventies. The Nomad side were without several key players.

Hythe batted first and were soon in trouble at 94-6. But a 84 partnership for the 7th wicket between Tom Jones & Dan Duell got Hythe back on track and proved a match winning partnership. Jones made 32 whilst Duell had his chances to hit his maiden club ton but settled for 91*. Hythe 209-7 at the break.

Phoenix were relying on Price & Price jnr to get their runs but they were up against Alex Nicholas ~ keen to find some form that would see him bowl for the first team.

But it was Pete Miller who claimed the prize wicket of Price snr who made a tom last year. Nicholas then produced a fine opening spell inc the wicket of Austin for 6.

Chiverton came on to take 4-26 and Andy Murkitt 2-10 before Nicholas wrapped the game up for a 69 run win. For Phoenix Price jnr hit a fine 36 and Curtis 33 but they were short of batting this game.

RESULT :  Hythe & Dibden Sun XI Beat Phoenix by 69 Runs
